Corona Virus – What should you do now?

This is based on my current opinion not on any government issued report btw!

Qs. Anyone getting a little bit spooked about this Corona Virus spreading wide and fast?

I’m delighted every country in the world seems to be doing everything they can to contain the corona virus, while the WHO is posting protective measures, but I think it’s an important time for us to be proactive as well, for ourselves and our loved ones, especially those more vulnerable like our young, our elderly and those with immune weakness. I’ve been pondering this since the outbreak, how can we protect ourselves in advance, just in case this virus (or any other) does come knocking on our doors, and my thinking is we need to take care of our insides, and especially our GUT people! - That’s that long tube from your mouth to your anus by the way!

A healthy GUT absorbs minerals and vitamins efficiently & doesn’t use up extra energy to heal & repair internal damage because there isn’t any! That means if you do get a virus, you are in a better position to fight back & eliminate it & get healthy again.

Which reminds me… why are we not hearing news about people recovering from this Corona Virus? Is it just me, or are they not sharing any information about that?

Back to the advice: How do you take care of your GUT? The simple answer is: By eating real food, stuff that it can recognize, digest and assimilate properly.

Along with that basic advise – that we all know but think we don’t have the time to implement.. You’re wrong btw - I feel a strong tool worth emphasizing today is the power of having Probiotics and Prebiotics in your diet. It is most important that we consume foods that provide both the above, in an effort to keep our gut strong and healthy. What are they? To put it VERY simply: Probiotics are good bacteria living in your gut – you hope - and Prebiotics are the food they eat, also known as Fiber in our human world.

Probiotics:

Yes you can buy a box of probiotics from a pharmacy or health food store and I’m sure you’ll feel the benefit, if it’s the right one for you, but you will have to do more than that to become a strong body. For me, I prefer to have a supply of naturally probiotic and prebiotic rich foods in the house so that my family can consume it regularly. My current choices are Milk & Water Kefir, Sauerkraut (white and red), full fat Greek yoghurt or other yoghurts that are full fat and contain live cultures. You can purchase most of these, if not all, in a healthy food store but you’ll get far more out of them if you make them at home at a much smaller cost. I do provide the cultures btw and do 15min skype consultations for those that want a helping hand starting.

Prebiotics:

The above foods provide probiotics and prebiotics as well, but to really make those good bacteria flourish in our guts, I make sure we all eat plenty of fiber of all colors, so for example during this season that would mean the following fiber will invariably appear on our table during the week: spring onions, garlic, beetroot, organic carrot, organic kale, organic spinach, a rotating variety of salad leaves, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, celery, parsley. I’m not saying eat all of these, but I am saying that if you are not eating any of them, start now! Have a few of them this week, buy a different set next week and always try to stay in season and as local as possible and organic where possible.

Multicolored vegetables will give you tons of minerals, trace minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients etc, all of which assist the body’s functions to run better for you to feel better. Each color will give you a different nutrient and HINT HINT the richer the color the more potent the nutrient it has to give you ;) Plus because they are coming from a food you are more likely to digest and assimilate, but you can’t be sure of that when taking a vitamin supplement.

Good Luck People, let’s get strong bodies from within, take care of what you put in your mouth, our body is all organic… well, most of it is, for sure there’s some toxic exposure in all of us, but let us concentrate on the stuff we can control starting with what we put in our mouths and why! This is based on my current opinion not on any government issued report btw!
